Jane and Gordon Martz Ceramic Catch-All Dish, 1960s — Blue Glaze

A lovely example of the quiet sophistication that defines the work of Jane and Gordon Martz. This hand-thrown ceramic catch-all dish features their signature incised line pattern, gently traced across a soft, matte blue glaze. The surface has a serene, almost meditative quality—waves of hand-drawn rhythm that feel both organic and modern. The rectangular form with softly rounded edges sits comfortably on a desk, nightstand, or entry table. Perfect as a jewelry dish, keys-and-essentials catch-all, or simply as a sculptural moment on a shelf. Like all Martz pieces, it reflects the couple’s deep commitment to craft: subtle texture, warm earthen body, and glaze tones that layer beautifully in the light. A small but artful piece of American studio ceramics—quiet, beautiful, and entirely at ease in the modern home.
