Jamieson's Spindrift

Shetland Sheep have for generations been noted for their very soft and well crimped fleece. The wool is the finest of all native breeds and shows an amazing variety of colours and markings. There are 11 main whole colours and 30 recognised patterns and markings. The average staple length is 3.5 inches. The amount of crimp varies, and is important in providing the 'bounce' required for knitwear.  Premium Quality: Sourced from the Shetland Isles, the fleeces are sorted before spinning and only the finest wool is spun into knitting wool. Non-superwash: Jamieson's Spindrift is a non-superwash wool, and the colors blend beautifully.  In stranded colorwork the natural non-superwash wool allows the floats to felt slightly, providing extra warmth and durability. Convenient Skein Size: Each skein weighs 25 grams and contains approximately 115 yards, providing a convenient size for stranded-colorwork projects. Special Orders Available: If you need a color we're not displaying in stock, Sweet Meadow Knits offers the option to special order additional colors.  (Back-ordered colors may not be available from Shetland until the next fleeces are processed).
