Shelby Bar Stool

The Shelby Bar Stool by Jamie Young commands attention through its geometric metal frame, where antiqued brass bars intersect in a rhythm that feels both deliberate and restrained. Jamie Young's design draws from Art Deco vocabulary without mimicry, letting the proportions and material speak instead. The frame itself is the architecture here. Polished brass catches light differently depending on the angle and time of day, shifting between warm gold and deeper bronze tones. Against this precision sits a white hide cushion, its surface absorbing the geometry above it. The hide's natural variation means each stool carries subtle marks and tonal shifts, evidence of the material's authenticity. In a room, the Shelby reads as sculpture as much as furniture. The open framework doesn't visually anchor itself to the floor the way a solid base would, creating a sense of lightness despite its structural presence. Pulled up to a counter or bar, it becomes part of the architectural language of the space rather than an afterthought. The seat height and proportions work comfortably for extended sitting, while the metal frame's slenderness keeps sightlines clear. This is a piece that improves with proximity. The craftsmanship in how the bars meet, the quality of the brass finish, and the suppleness of the hide reveal themselves gradually. It's the kind of stool that doesn't demand attention but rewards it. *Natural color variation will occur in the hide.
