Jack Daniel's Rested Tennessee Rye Straight Rye Whiskey Batch 002 750ml

Jack Daniel's Rested Tennessee Rye is a fascinating piece of the distillery's history and a snapshot of a brand learning to make rye in real time. Released in April 2014, it was the second of three landmark steps in Jack Daniel's rye journey, following the Unaged Rye of 2012 and preceding the fully mature Tennessee Rye that arrived in 2017. The whiskey here is that original 2012 rye, distilled on the brand's first new grain bill in over a century, after roughly two years resting in the barrelhouse. Master Distiller Jeff Arnett offered it as a deliberate work in progress, a chance for fans to taste the spirit mid maturation and witness how the bold rye grain was beginning to marry with toasted oak and vanilla from the wood. Built on a mashbill of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn, and 12 percent malted barley, charcoal mellowed drop by drop in the signature Lincoln County Process, this batch 002 release was bottled at 80 proof and made available in limited quantities across more than thirty states before being discontinued. As a young, intentionally unfinished expression, it shows a lighter color and a grain forward, spice driven character with early hints of the oak influence to come. Today, with the Rested Rye long out of production, it has become a genuine collector's piece, prized by Jack Daniel's enthusiasts and rye history buffs alike as a tangible step in the evolution of one of the brand's most important modern releases. A characterful pour and a conversation starting bottle for any serious collection. It is the 2012 distilled rye after about two years in the barrel, offered as a deliberate preview before the fully aged rye arrived in 2017. Is it fully matured? It uses Jack Daniel's rye recipe of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn, and 12 percent malted barley, the brand's first new grain bill in over a century. What proof is it? It is bottled at 80 proof, or 40 percent ABV. Is it still made? No. Batch 002 Rested Rye was a limited release and has been discontinued, making it a collectible Jack Daniel's bottle.
