This necklace is a rendition of one found in a tomb in Iximche, Tecpan, Guatemala. Iximche is one of the last Post-Classic Maya cities. It was built shortly before the Spanish conquest. The original necklace is composed of jaguar heads and beads made from gold. 15 hand crafted black jade jaguar heads strung with green jade and goldfilled beads. Late Post-Classic Period, 1470 D.C. – 1524 D.C. Kaqchikel Maya, Iximche, Guatemala Length: 18” Weight: 79 gr.
