Condition Note: All bags have holes and repairs of various sizes where down is leaking. These are intended as historical artifacts only. Taking lessons learned from late WW2 down sleeping bags, the M1949 iterated on the design philosophy by introducing a longer zipper and a down/feather blend. In comparison, M1942 "Arctic" sleeping bags prove a bit lighter; the former relying on a bulkier two-case system for down and feathers. Like their predecessors, these too were designed to be used with an optional water-resistant shell. Used in Korea and Vietnam, these bags were ultimately replaced by the "Extreme Cold Weather Down Sleeping Bag" in the 70s, itself used until about the 2000s. These bags are a great piece of Cold War history, offering excellent insulation for a bag of the period. Features: Authentic USGI Most pieces are from the 60s Expect some fill loss Intended for display only
