Iseli Fastigiate Dove Tree

Iseli Fastigiate Dove Tree (Davidia involucrata 'Iseli Fastigiate')Iseli Fastigiate Dove Tree brings the famous spring bract display of dove tree in a narrow, upright form that fits tighter landscapes. When it blooms, large white bracts flutter through the canopy and create a look that feels instantly special, even from a distance. The heart-shaped green leaves add a calm summer canopy and light shade without a bulky footprint. This is a strong choice when you want a collector-grade flowering tree that also works in space-conscious designs. Distinctive FeaturesThis selection is valued for its strongly upright, fastigiate branching and architectural silhouette. In late spring, each flower cluster is framed by two large white bracts that hang like handkerchiefs and move in the breeze. The foliage is green and broadly heart-shaped with a soft texture, and fall color can be variable from yellow tones to warmer tints depending on site and season. Like other dove trees, it can take time to reach reliable flowering maturity, but the form and foliage keep it attractive along the way. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun to partial shade, with best growth and display in full sun with some afternoon shade in hotter locations. Soil: Rich, well-drained soil that stays evenly moist, improved with organic matter for best performance. Water: Moderate to regular, keep consistently moist during establishment and avoid repeated drought stress. USDA Zones: 6 to 8. Mature Size: About 25 to 35 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide. Habit: Narrow, upright, fastigiate canopy with strong vertical lines. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use as a vertical specimen where the white bracts can own a main view without taking up much width. Courtyard Tree: Fits tighter spaces where an architectural canopy and spring display make the design feel intentional. Entry and Walkway Accent: Plant near approaches to highlight the narrow form and create a memorable spring moment. Collector Gardens: A standout choice for gardeners who want uncommon trees with real seasonal drama. Mixed Borders: Place behind shrubs and perennials to add height, structure, and a light canopy layer. Low Maintenance Care Pruning: Prune lightly in late winter to remove crossing branches and maintain a strong leader, keeping cuts modest. Watering: Deep water through the first one to two growing seasons, then irrigate during dry spells to prevent stress. Mulching: Mulch over the root zone to conserve moisture and protect roots, keeping mulch off the trunk. Protection: Choose a sheltered site out of strong drying winds to help foliage and bracts look their best. Patience: Expect flowering to improve as the tree matures, and focus early on steady growth and root establishment. Why Choose Iseli Fastigiate Dove Tree? Space-Saving Form: Narrow, upright habit brings architectural structure to landscapes that cannot fit a broad canopy. Signature Display: Large white bracts create a spring show unlike almost any other ornamental tree. Refined Texture: Heart-shaped leaves and a light canopy add softness without feeling heavy or crowded. Design Flexibility: Works as a specimen, a vertical punctuation point, or a repeating element in formal layouts. Collector Appeal: A rare tree with long-term character that becomes more impressive as it matures. If you want the iconic dove tree display in a slimmer footprint, Iseli Fastigiate Dove Tree is a strong fit.
