A touch of steel blue for your landscape A selection like this comes along once in a blue moon! The 'Blue Moon' variety captivates with its striking steel-blue foliage, which stands out beautifully against other greenery in the garden. Discovered as a sport of 'Baby Blue', this charming shrub features short, stiff branching adorned with juvenile foliage that matures into a compact ball shape. Its tidy form requires minimal shearing, making it a hassle-free addition to any landscape. Whether planted as a bold single accent or in eye-catching groupings, 'Blue Moon' brings a delightful splash of color to your outdoor space. It's particularly well-suited for foundation plantings, where its vibrant hue can enliven the area around your home. Thriving in full sun with moist, well-drained soil, this shrub not only adds visual appeal but also enhances the overall character of your yard. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a spot that receives full sun and has well-drained, moist soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and gently loosen the roots before placing the plant. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly to help settle the roots. Spread a layer of mulch around the plant after backfilling with soil. 2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during the first growing season. Once established, 'Blue Moon' can tolerate brief dry periods but will thrive with regular watering during hot weather. 3. Pruning: To maintain its compact shape, light pruning can be done in early spring before new growth begins. Minimal shearing is generally needed, as the shrub naturally holds its form well. 4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Follow the package instructions for the appropriate amount—this will help promote healthy growth and vibrant foliage.
