Iringa Baskets Natural

Sometimes all you need to tidy up your space is a beautiful place to put everything. Meet our handcrafted Natural Iringa Baskets—a timeless storage solution that blends functionality, sustainability, and artisan craftsmanship. Handwoven in Tanzania Each Iringa Basket is handwoven by women artisans in rural Iringa, Tanzania, using Milulu grass, a durable, reed-like grass that grows wild along the rivers of Tanzania's Southern Highlands. Harvesting the grass is a labor of love, requiring long walks to gather the fibers before they are carefully sun-dried and woven by hand. Larger baskets can take up to a week to complete, with every strand thoughtfully woven using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Left in its natural, undyed state, the warm golden tones of the Milulu grass showcase the beauty of the raw material and the artisan's craftsmanship. For generations, Iringa baskets have been an indispensable household item among Tanzania's Hehe people, valued for their strength, versatility, and timeless design. Every purchase helps support sustainable livelihoods for women artisans while preserving traditional weaving techniques.
