Summer Music Series, Zurich

This Swiss concert poster for Zurich's Serenaden '93 summer music series demonstrates the enduring vitality of the Swiss graphic design tradition. The composition transforms simple geometric forms into a poetic evocation of summer evening concerts: overlapping circles suggest sun and moon, day transitioning to night, while billowing white cloud shapes create depth against the saturated blue ground. The design achieves that distinctly Swiss balance of precision and warmth, its clean sans-serif typography organizing five concerts worth of chamber music programming with effortless clarity. From the Orion Trio performing Beethoven and Brahms to the Syrius Quintet Zürich presenting Mozart and Samuel Barber, the series brought classical music to the elegant grounds of Villa Schönberg. A sophisticated example of municipal cultural promotion, this poster captures both the refinement of Swiss design and the civilized tradition of open-air classical concerts. The bold simplicity and striking color palette make it as visually compelling today as when it graced Zurich's streets three decades ago.
