Kerala’s cacao grows among coconut palms, pepper vines, fruits, and spices — a landscape that naturally infuses the beans with vibrant acidity, warmth, and depth. Where chocolate is grown is the first key to the tasting notes naturally present in craft chocolate. Before a chocolate maker ever roasts a bean, there’s the terroir, the farmer, and the harvest. This origin hits the palate with a juicy, energetic character — a flavor that mirrors Kerala’s climate and the precision of GoGround’s post-harvest process. Snack away and travel through chocolate with each bite. About the Farm GoGround Beans & Spices works with smallholder farmers across Kerala, bringing structure, training, and high-quality post-harvest practices to a region overflowing with agricultural heritage. Their team focuses on: • Precise fermentation Cacao is fermented in wooden boxes, carefully monitored to build clean fruit notes and a naturally bright profile. • Sun-drying on raised beds Beans are dried slowly under the Kerala sun, allowing acidity, spice, and richness to land exactly where they should. • Farmer partnership at the center GoGround supports local growers with training, stable pricing, and transparent quality standards — creating a resilient future for cacao in a region known for tea, spices, and now, exceptional chocolate. Kerala is a place where cacao grows alongside pepper, cardamom, bananas, and coconuts. That complexity shows up directly in the flavor — juicy, tropical, warm, and alive. This is one of the most distinctive origins in our lineup, and we’re proud to feature it. Why These Ingredients Matter We don’t pick ingredients just because they taste good, though they absolutely do. We pick them because they tell stories. Because they come from people who care as much about their craft as we do. GoGround works with small family farms tucked throughout Kerala’s coastal hills, a region where agriculture is woven into everyday life. Their approach to fermentation and drying highlights the natural brightness in Indian cacao, creating a flavor we’ve come to love — juicy acidity, gentle spice, and a clean finish that keeps you coming back. This origin also reflects the type of cacao we want to support: thoughtfully grown, transparently processed, and connected to communities building a sustainable future through cacao. Every bag of our India Snacking Chocolate supports smallholder farmers in Kerala and helps grow a new chapter for fine cacao in India.
