Incrediball® Smooth Hydrangea

Incrediball smooth hydrangea is one plant that deserves its hype! Proven Winners ColorChoice Shrubs set out to create an improved version of 'Annabelle' hydrangea with sturdy stems that didn't flop. With Incrediball hydrangea, they achieved that, and they got a bonus no one expected - extra large flowers! It seems counter-intuitive, but it's true, and we've seen it ourselves. The flowers of Incrediball are 2-3 times the size of any other smooth hydrangea, yet are held up on strong stems so the lovely white blooms stay out of the dirt and up where you can enjoy them. All of this, yet it's as reliable and easy to grow as 'Annabelle', and is even the same useful size.  What makes Incrediball hydrangea different? Strong stems don't flop over Extra-large flowers Details: Name: Hydrangea arborescens 'Abetwo' pp#20,571, cbr#4166 Hardiness: USDA zones 3-8 Height + width: 4-5' Light: Full to part sun Soil: Any well-drained soil will do. Though dry conditions are unlikely to harm an established plant, prolonged drought will severely limit floral life. Pruning: Blooms on new wood; prune back by one-third in late winter/early spring for better habit and a slight improvement in stem strength. Water: Average water needs. Does not tolerate wet conditions. Fertilizer: Fertilize once in early spring with a rose fertilizer if desired. Bloom time: Early summer Bloom color: Flowers start creamy white, turn pure white, and then age to a beautiful, cheerful green. That color persists until frost. Uses: Incrediball is the best choice among white smooth hydrangeas for a flowering hedge, specimen, landscape plant, or addition to a perennial border or cut flower garden. Its strong stems and abundant, showy blooms makes it extremely effective in the landscape with very minimal care and attention.
