Social Skills (Improving Social Skills: Connecting with Others) ~ Subliminal

Improving Social Skills: Connecting with Others — Humans are herd animals—it is the rare individual who does not need to spend at least some time with other people. There are many opportunities to increase our happy brain chemicals when we are with others, chemicals such as oxytocin and serotonin. Happy brain chemicals not only make us feel happier, they are also simply good for our general health and longevity. Overall, belonging to a social group can promote social, mental, and emotional well-being. Good social skills can enhance both business and personal relationships!  Some people are naturally good at social interactions; giving off vibes that encourage good two-way communication. These people are unafraid of initiating conversations, meeting new people, or being in larger gatherings. These good social skills can therefore enhance both business and personal relationships. Many people, though, feel that their social skills are insufficient and as a result, they withdraw from social opportunities and/or they fear exposure and embarrassment. This can hamper their career opportunities and their personal relationships. Good social skills involve being confident and secure with other people. It is about appreciating your own value and making a positive contribution. It is about knowing how to present yourself in a way that is engaging and not off-putting. Social skills can be learned and that learning begins with an attitude intent on mastering this skill set. Attitude can be everything. You can feel confident around others. You can communicate effectively. You can win influence with others. You can enjoy meeting new people and dealing with new situations. It’s up to you. Why not begin today?
