Plant Profiles: Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) - Astragalus root is known for its sweet and reinforcing qualities. It deeply supports a healthy immune system and lungs. We find an ally in digesting both our food and life experiences with grace and confidence. Astragalus is considered to be the queen of the Chi/Qi Tonics in Chinese Herbal Medicine. Codonopsis (Codonopsis pilosula) - The flowers of this viney plant are a light-purple and the roots are a crisp white color with a sweet and nourishing taste. This root is adaptogenic, helping the body respond in a balanced way to various kinds of stressors, with an affinity for the digestive system. Codonopsis is particularly helpful for healthy assimilation of nutrients from the digestive tract and is moistening to the mucous membranes of the body. Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) - These small and vibrant berries are flavorful and deeply supportive of vitality, focus, and energy. Schisandra supports liver, immune, and digestive function while encouraging resilience of nervous system response. Schisandra helps us to breathe more deeply and live into our gifts with joy. Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) - A mild-tasting but vital root native to the northern hemisphere. This incredible plant is adaptogenic and helps us to maintain resilience, sustain healthy physical stamina and mental focus, and bring an even, steady response to life's varied experiences. We double extract our Eleuthero tincture, cooking the roots for several hours before adding alcohol, and then repeat this process 6 weeks later, creating a deeply immune supportive tincture. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) - A comforting, warming, sweet, and balancing spice that offers gentle immune support. The warming aromatics encourage healthy circulation and reinforce good digestive function. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) - This root is deeply moistening and protective, with a sweet taste. Licorice root benefits a healthy immune system and supports adrenal health and balance. Prickly Ash (Zanthoxylum clava-herculis) - Just a taste of this herb gives you a sense of its properties: tingly, aromatic, and even "sparkly". Prickly Ash bark encourages healthy circulation, in turn supporting the metabolic processes of the body. This herb supports the functions of the digestive, immune, and lymphatic systems.
