3. Large Teardrop Pietersite, Set of 2 - 051724

Pietersite stones are a unique variety of chalcedony, known for their striking colors and chatoyant or "cat's eye" effect. They are composed primarily of quartz and are formed through a process of hydrothermal alteration of volcanic rocks. The swirling bands of color in pietersite stones are caused by the presence of various minerals, such as iron, magnesium, and crocidolite, that crystallize in a fibrous or needle-like structure. Pietersite is also known as tempest stone as it is a stone that carries a charge, a little like a storm raging within it. They are highly valued by gemstone collectors and lapidary artisans for their beauty and rarity.Pietersite stones are a true marvel of the natural world, and they evoke feelings of romance, love, and adventure with every glance.
