Superkid Mohair Yarn, IGEA ASTRO, Luxury Italian Lace Weight Yarn, Balls or Cones, 1000m/100g

ASTRO is the type of Superkid Mohair yarn that makes simple knitting look expensive. The long, airy halo softens stitches, adds depth to the fabric, and creates the cloud-like appearance associated with luxury designer knitwear. At approximately 1000 meters per 100 grams, ASTRO offers the rare combination of softness, warmth, and versatility, working beautifully both as a stand-alone lace yarn and as a companion strand. Made in Italy by IGEA from 67% Superkid Mohair, 30% Polyamide, and 3% Extra Fine Merino Wool, ASTRO delivers the elegant halo that mohair lovers seek without excessive weight or bulk. The result is lightweight fabric with beautiful bloom, gentle warmth, and the refined appearance that makes even simple stockinette feel special. What I like most about ASTRO is its flexibility. Knit it alone for airy sweaters, shawls, wraps, and scarves, or hold it together with merino, cashmere, silk, alpaca, linen, or cotton to instantly add softness, warmth, and a luxurious brushed finish. This is exactly the type of yarn often used to create the soft-focus look seen in premium Italian knitwear collections. ▣ Product Specifications Manufacturer: IGEA, Italy Article: ASTRO Fiber Content: 67% Superkid Mohair, 30% Polyamide, 3% Extra Fine Merino Wool Yarn Category: Lace Weight Yarn Structure: Brushed Mohair Yarn Yarn Count: Nm 10 Yardage: approximately 1000m / 1094yd per 100g (3.52oz) Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE) Origin: Made in Italy ⌁ Texture & Feel Soft brushed halo Airy and lightweight Warm without heaviness Beautiful bloom after washing Adds volume without bulk Elegant luxury appearance Soft next to the skin for a mohair blend Creates cloud-like fabrics ⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special ASTRO is a highly adaptable luxury mill yarn. Unlike thinner industrial mohair blends, its generous 1000m per 100g weight makes it perfectly suited for both single-strand hand knitting and multi-strand work. Knit single-strand, it creates lightweight, sheer, cloud-like lace projects. Used as a companion yarn, a single strand adds softness, halo, warmth, and visual depth to another yarn without significantly changing your gauge. This makes ASTRO one of the easiest ways to elevate a project and achieve the soft-focus appearance commonly seen in luxury designer knitwear. The combination of Superkid Mohair and Extra Fine Merino creates a more refined halo than many standard mohair yarns, while the polyamide core provides stability and durability. ➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage Perfect for: Airy single-strand lace work Companion yarn projects Sweaters Cardigans Shawls Wraps Scarves Cowls Luxury accessories Lightweight layering garments Designer knitwear Machine knitting Weaving ➤ Working Suggestions Knit single strand for sheer, feather-light lace garments Add 1 strand to merino for softness and halo Add 1 strand to cashmere for luxury depth Add 1 strand to silk for elegant drape Add 1 strand to alpaca for extra warmth Hold 2 or more strands together for substantial standalone projects Because of the extraordinary meterage, even small quantities go a very long way. ➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT Cashmere: Creates exceptionally soft luxury fabrics.
