Idée Fixe

CLICK HERE TO ZOOM IN ON DETAIL (2014) Idée fixe means an idea that dominates one's mind especially for a prolonged period. It is also described as a delusional idea that dominates mental life during a prolonged period. Being prone to fleeting fixations, I put myself in this piece where an idea is anchored and chained through my ear and eye, connected to time, a key with no lock, and a burning ever-tentacled obsession du jour. “What moves those of genius, what inspires their work is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough.” -- Eugene Delacroix, French Romantic painter, 1798-1863
