Ice Cubes

A Novel Batya Adler was a normal tenth grader - giggling during assembly, fighting with her sister, and doing her fair share of complaining. Until that day. After a fainting spell in class and all kinds of tests, the diagnosis was revealed: Kidney failure. The shock was total: to Batya, to her family, to her friends and classmates. She would need dialysis at least three times a week, while keeping up with schoolwork, social life, and responsibilities at home. Except she couldn't. Everything that was so important to Batya - to any teenager - was over. It was all she could do to stay awake and on her feet some. When her situation starts to deteriorate, and time is of the essence, Batya is forced to battle - literally - for her life. What will Batya discover about herself - and everyone around her - in her fight to live? The answers surprise everyone, most of all Batya herself. Batya is funny, candid, and so very typical for a teenager, even one who is deathly ill. Join her on her journey. By Sarah Malovitzsky
