I Carpini 2022 "Sette Zolle" Barbera Riserva

Tasting Notes I Carpini’s 2022 Sette Zolle Barbera Riserva is a richly expressive, Piedmont‑grown Barbera that leans into the grape’s natural vibrancy while adding the depth and polish expected from extended aging. The wine opens with concentrated aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, violet, and blackberry compote, layered with sweet tobacco, cocoa, vanilla bean, and a subtle balsamic lift. On the palate it is full and supple, showing Barbera’s signature acidity wrapped in a velvety texture, with flavors of dark cherry, black raspberry, licorice, baking spice, and a touch of cedar from its time in wood. The finish is long, juicy, and structured, balancing freshness with a warm, savory undertone that speaks to its Riserva status. The varietal composition is 100% Barbera, sourced from hillside vineyards where the grape thrives in clay‑limestone soils that enhance both fruit purity and natural acidity. For food pairings, this wine excels with rich northern Italian dishes such as braised short ribs, osso buco, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, grilled sausages, and aged cheeses like Parmigiano‑Reggiano. Its acidity also makes it a superb match for tomato‑based dishes, including lasagna, pizza with cured meats, and slow‑cooked ragù. 750ml
