Discarded materials, reborn as something beautiful. Etat Libre d'Orange I Am Trash (Les Fleurs du Déchet) is a bold, innovative Eau de Parfum built from upcycled ingredients: apple essence reclaimed from waste, rose and cedar given a second life. Playful, modern and slightly rebellious, it was composed by perfumer Daniela Andrier and launched in 2018. The Story Developed with the creative network Ogilvy Paris, I Am Trash is presented as the first luxury perfume made through upcycling, a tribute to overlooked leftovers. It draws on leftover apple from the food industry, spent rose petals and already-distilled wood, challenging the idea of luxury by showing that what is thrown away can be reborn as something refined. It carries the irreverent, experimental spirit of Etat Libre d'Orange, the Paris house founded by Etienne de Swardt, and blends sustainability with artistry. How It Smells Opening A bright burst of apple, fresh, crisp and a little tangy, with bitter orange, tangerine and lemongrass giving a sparkling, youthful energy. Heart It turns smoother and more rounded, with fruity sweetness balanced by rose and wild strawberry. Dry Down A clean woody base of Atlas cedar and woody-ambery molecules softens into a gentle, musky warmth that feels easy, wearable and quietly addictive.
