(aka: Hypericum Ruihyi174a) Hypericum 'Hypearl Compact Red', from Holland's De Ruiter Innovations, B.V., is an astonishing breakthrough in St. John's Wort for the garden. These amazing shrublets, created from a cross of Hypericum androsaemum × Hypericum hircinum, form a 4' tall x 4' wide mass of upright stems, clothed with thumb-sized glaucous green leaves and topped, starting in May and continuing non-stop into November (NC) with bright yellow flowers, followed with bright red fruit that lasts well through fall, giving it a tremendously long season of interest. Since Hypericum 'Hypearl Compact Red' was bred for the cut flower trade, you'll probably want to buy more vases.
