HYDE Sutter Vest — Ace Rustic Black Italian Calfskin Nubuck | Men's Luxury USA-Made Leather Vest

Why we selected it The Sutter Vest in Ace Rustic Black is the most commanding vest in the Hyde collection. A superior Italian calfskin pebble nubuck — textured, tonal, alive with natural character — is framed with a Rustic Napa double collar, placket, and trim, then lined in 100% wool for warmth. Where the Trail Dust wears warm and weathered, the Ace Rustic Black is deep, textured, and quietly powerful. This is the vest for the man who wants the versatility of a layering piece without surrendering any presence. Craftsmanship Made in the USA by a three-generation family leather atelier with over four decades of craft behind every seam. The shell is a superior calfskin nubuck, tanned in Italy — among the best a tannery has to offer. Unlike suede, which is finished on the flesh side of the skin, this calfskin is buffed on the grain side to create a fine nap while leaving the natural grain characteristics visible: the vein shadows, markings, and subtle variations that confirm this is a genuine, individually selected hide. No two vests are identical, because no two skins are. Six to seven skins hand-matched per garment. Every seam sewn at exactly ten stitches per inch. The entire finished garment pressed. The Ace Rustic Black finish Italian-tanned calfskin, buffed on the grain side to a pebbled nubuck nap. The pebbled grain effect gives the surface a depth and texture that flat black leather cannot approach — a tonal, living black that shifts with the light and the angle. The natural grain characteristics are not concealed; they are the point. Against the textured black shell, the Rustic Napa double collar, placket, and trim add a smooth, warm, lustrous contrast — cognac-toned leather framing tonal black. Styling Ace Rustic Black is the most versatile dark tone in the collection — it grounds denim, charcoal, olive, and cream with equal ease. Layer the Sutter over a fine-gauge roll-neck or a heavy flannel shirt, wear the double collar up for structure or folded down for a cleaner line. The Rustic Napa trim ties it to brown boots and tan accessories. It sits naturally under a longer coat in deep winter, or stands alone as the outer layer through the shoulder seasons. Investment quality Superior Italian calfskin pebble nubuck — grain-side buffed, naturally charactered, constructed in the USA — represents a convergence of the finest European skins and American craft. The Rustic Napa collar and trim age beautifully alongside the textured shell, and the 100% wool lining adds warmth without bulk. At $1,895 the Sutter in Ace Rustic Black is a layering piece no synthetic gilet or fleece can replace.
