What is the HP DesignJet T1600 Plus Edition, and how is it different from the original T1600? The T1600 Plus Edition is HP's refreshed version of the DesignJet T1600 36-inch wide-format printer, updated with an enhanced value proposition centered on Seamless, Productive, and Secure performance. Key additions include the HP Click Driver for direct Windows 11 printing, an upgraded automated output stacker handling up to 100 pages at a time, HP Wolf Pro Security with TLS 1.3 and IPsec encryption, and a compact design engineered to produce up to 87% less noise than competing models. Core specs, including the 180 D/hr print speed, ±0.1% line accuracy, and 6-ink system, remain consistent with the proven T1600 platform.   Quick Answer: The T1600 prints D-size (24"×36") drawings in approximately 19.3 seconds, or up to 180 per hour in Fast mode — among the fastest in the 36-inch technical plotter class. How fast does the HP DesignJet T1600 Plus Edition print technical drawings? In Fast mode, the T1600 Plus Edition produces a D-size (24"×36") drawing in 19.3 seconds, equating to up to 180 D-size prints per hour. This throughput is designed to serve multi-user AEC and GIS workgroups where print queues can build quickly. For higher-quality output modes, speed will vary depending on file complexity, media type, and resolution settings. The automated 100-page output stacker further reduces workflow friction by collecting completed prints without requiring someone to stand at the printer.   Quick Answer: The T1600 Plus Edition uses HP Click and the HP Click Driver, enabling PDF printing directly from any Windows 11 application without additional file preparation or conversion steps. What does the HP Click Driver do, and why does it matter for AEC teams? HP Click and the HP Click Driver are HP's print submission tools designed to eliminate the most common frustration in technical printing: files that look different on paper than on screen. With the T1600 Plus Edition, users can print PDFs directly from any Windows 11 application — AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and others — without exporting to an intermediate format or manually adjusting plotter settings. HP positions this as the easiest PDF printing workflow available in the 36-inch technical plotter segment, reducing reprints and saving time for project teams with tight deadlines.   Quick Answer: The T1600 Plus Edition includes HP Wolf Pro Security with TLS 1.3 encryption, IPsec, secure boot, firmware validation, and a 500 GB self-encrypting removable hard drive to protect sensitive project files. What security features does the HP DesignJet T1600 Plus Edition include? The T1600 Plus Edition ships with HP Wolf Pro Security — HP's enterprise-grade device protection stack. This includes TLS 1.3 and IPsec for encrypted data transmission across networked print workflows, secure boot to verify firmware integrity at startup, and runtime firmware validation to detect and reject unauthorized code. Local storage is handled by a 500 GB self-encrypting removable drive, so sensitive CAD files, engineering drawings, and project documents are protected both in transit and at rest. These features are particularly relevant to government contractors, oil and gas firms, and AEC teams handling confidential project data.   Quick Answer: The T1600dr PS is the dual-roll PostScript variant that keeps two media types loaded simultaneously — ideal for teams that switch frequently between bond paper and coated media without manual roll changes. What is the difference between the T1600, T1600 PS, and T1600dr PS variants? The three T1600 Plus Edition variants differ in print language support and roll configuration. The base T1600 uses raster drivers (HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, TIFF, JPEG, CALS G4) that are suited to most CAD and GIS workflows. The T1600 PS adds native support for Adobe PostScript 3 and Adobe PDF 1.7, enabling direct output from PostScript-dependent applications such as GIS platforms and Adobe Creative tools. The T1600dr PS (dual-roll) adds a second roll spindle with smart roll switching, allowing two media types — for example, 20 lb bond and 24 lb coated — to be loaded simultaneously, with the printer automatically selecting the correct roll based on the job. All three include TAVCO professional installation.   Quick Answer: Yes — TAVCO includes professional on-site installation with every HP DesignJet T1600 Plus Edition purchase, and we serve Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and other Texas markets. What ink cartridges does the HP DesignJet T1600 Plus Edition use? The T1600 Plus Edition uses HP's 6-color ink system consisting of cyan, magenta, yellow, gray, photo black (dye-based), and matte black (pigment-based). Compatible cartridges include the HP 730 series (300 ml high-capacity) and HP 712 series (130 ml), available individually or in multipack configurations. Pigment matte black delivers sharp, crisp lines on bond paper for technical drawings, while the dye-based inks produce vivid color output for GIS maps and presentation graphics.
