Hoya verticillata (heart-shape, silver)

Origin and Description: Hoya verticillata is native to Southeast Asia, and this specific heart-shaped, silver clone is particularly admired for its striking foliage. Unlike the more common lance-shaped varieties, this clone features charming heart-shaped leaves with beautiful silver flecks that shimmer across the surface. The combination of the unique leaf shape and silvery highlights gives this variety a distinct appearance that stands out in any collection. Natural Habitat: In the wild, Hoya verticillata thrives as an epiphyte in the tropical forests of regions such as Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It prefers humid environments and can grow on trees or along forest floors where it receives diffused sunlight. Care Instructions: Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can cause leaf burn, though it may tolerate some morning sun. Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings. The plant is relatively tolerant of drought but performs best when watered regularly. Humidity: Enjoys high humidity (around 50-70%). If grown in lower humidity conditions, misting or a humidity tray may help the plant thrive. Temperature: Ideal temperatures are between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Protect from temperatures below 60°F (15°C). Sunstress: This silver clone of Hoya verticillata does not experience significant “sunstress” or change in coloration under bright light, allowing its silver-flecked leaves to maintain their appearance without additional red or purple tones. Fun Fact: The heart-shaped leaves of this Hoya verticillata clone give it an extra ornamental value, while the silver flecks create a mesmerizing pattern on each leaf. This clone is highly sought after by collectors not only for its rare foliage but also for its ease of care and versatility in various growing environments.
