Hot Flash Camellia

Camellia sasanqua 'Hot Flash'   Fierce fiery red blooms appear like fireworks with its spectacular pyrotechnic display. Hot Flash camellia blooms late fall and into the winter with semi-double red blooms just in time to commemorate the holiday season. This camellia is similar to the Shishi Gashira offering its compact-spreading nature but features slightly bigger bright red blooms and more vigorous growth rate. You could say it behaves like fireworks in two ways: its bright showy blooms are like explosions and fast spreading nature akin to sparks spreading across the sky. Beautiful to behold even as an evergreen throughout the entire year with its dark green foliage. Perfect for creating a natural hedge.   Be sure to use pine bark soil conditioner as your planting medium when installing camellias as they prefer well drained soil during the first couple of years. They’re roots do not like to remain excessively wet.
