The Horn Hunter Waterfowlers Backpack was designed around a simple idea: waterfowl hunters carry a ridiculous amount of stuff, and they need a pack that actually handles all of it without making the walk-in feel like a CrossFit event. This is that pack.   The detachable decoy bag lives right in the lid, so it is there when you need it and out of the way when you do not. The drop-down zip-out gun boot mounts your shotgun to the side of the pack, keeping your hands completely free for navigating through thick marsh grass, climbing in and out of a boat, or steadying yourself on a slick levee at zero-dark-thirty. The dense EVA molded weatherproof bottom is built specifically for the abuse waterfowl hunting dishes out, including muddy marsh bottoms, wet aluminum boat floors, and whatever else you set this thing down on throughout a long season. It also gives the pack a flat, stable base so heavy ammo loads sit solid instead of rolling around and throwing your balance off.   The detachable bird carrier loops with quick-release metal hooks are a genuinely thoughtful addition. Once the birds are down, you clip them on, shoulder the pack, and keep moving. Multiple pockets and compartments give you organized storage for calls, choke tubes, extra shells, gloves, snacks, and all the other small items that end up scattered across the bottom of lesser packs. The padded shoulder straps, chest strap, and hip belt mean this pack carries like a real load-bearing system, not just a bag with some straps sewn on. Horn Hunter built this for hunters who take their waterfowl seasons seriously, and the design shows it.   Check Out The Full Lineup Of Horn Hunter Gear   Horn Hunter Hunting Gear   Why Hunters Love It   Waterfowl hunters are a different breed. Early mornings, cold water, heavy loads, and conditions that would send most gear packing by November. The Horn Hunter Waterfowlers Backpack earns its spot in the blind because it was clearly designed by people who have actually done this, not by committee in a boardroom. The gun boot keeps your shotgun accessible and secure without a separate case. The weatherproof EVA bottom takes the punishment of boat floors and marsh mud without deforming or soaking through. The whole system is built around making a hard morning a little more manageable, and hunters who use it once tend to not go back to whatever they were using before.   At Outdoors For Less, we have been putting quality hunting gear in hunters' hands since 1998, and the Horn Hunter Waterfowlers Backpack is exactly the kind of product we stand behind. Purpose-built, thoughtfully designed, and priced where it should be. If your current setup has you making multiple trips or fighting your gear in the dark, this pack is worth a serious look before next season opens.   Frequently Asked Questions   Does the decoy bag detach completely or is it permanently attached to the lid? The decoy bag detaches completely from the lid of the pack. It is designed to be removed and used on its own when you need to spread decoys or haul them separately, giving you flexibility in how you stage your gear depending on the day's setup.   Can the gun boot accommodate a shotgun with a scope or a red dot sight mounted on it? The gun boot is designed to secure a shotgun along the side of the pack, but clearance for optics mounted on top of the receiver will depend on the specific sight profile. If you are running a low-profile red dot, it will likely fit without issue. A tall magnified scope may create fit challenges, so it is worth testing before your first trip out.   How waterproof is the main body of the pack, not just the bottom? The dense EVA molded weatherproof bottom is the primary waterproofing feature specifically designed for wet boat floors and muddy marsh conditions. The main pack body is built for field use and handles light rain well, but it is not rated as a fully waterproof or submersible pack. For heavy rain days, a pack liner or cover is a smart addition.   How many decoys can the detachable decoy bag realistically carry? Horn Hunter has not published an exact decoy count capacity, but the bag is sized to carry a working spread of standard mallard-sized foam or plastic decoys. Most users report it handles a solid dozen full-size decoys comfortably. If you are running magnum or full-body field decoys, you will likely carry fewer per trip.   Is the hip belt padded and substantial enough to help carry heavy loads or is it more of a stabilizer strap? The hip belt on the Waterfowlers Backpack is padded and designed to assist in load transfer, not just keep the pack from swinging. Combined with the padded shoulder straps and chest strap, the harness system is built to distribute heavy ammo and gear loads across your body so a long walk-in does not pile everything onto your shoulders alone.   Can the bird carrier loops handle multiple birds at once? Yes. The detachable bird carrier loops are designed to carry multiple birds using the quick-release metal hooks. Whether you are hanging a limit of teal or a mixed bag of ducks and geese, the loops are built to handle real field loads. The quick-release design means you are not fighting clips when you are cold and wet and ready to head back to the truck.
