Hopsack Throw

The Hopsack basket weave from which this piece gets its name, carries a comforting weight and texture that is perceived even before touching it. The austere design is offset by the welcoming, earthy weave of the fabric and warm details like the selvedge and tassel edges.  The Hopsack Throw is woven with indigo threads that have been dyed at natural indigo vats in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra. The deep hue of the indigo indicates multiple dips, which requires an experienced hand. The indigo threads have been woven with the natural cotton linen at a studio in Gurugram. Draped over the edge of a sofa or worn as a generously sized stole, the Hopsack Throw is a versatile accessory made for a sense of simple comfort. Size 260 x 130 cm / 102 x 51 in 100% handwoven thick cotton linen Hand wash gently with cold water and line dry in the shade. Wash separately for the first few washes. Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water, air and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural color may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight. The handwoven textile and embroidery may carry some imperfections; this is a part of the beauty of crafts of the hand.
