Hoodoo Almanac 2012

Never before has there been an almanac such as this one...the Hoodoo Almanac contains information for the everyday rootworker such as moon phases, best days for doing specific works, working in the graveyard, Tarot-scopes, working with the saints, kitchen Hoodoo, weather lore and all sorts of information that is useful and entertaining. Here's what customers have to say about the Hoodoo Almanac 2012: "It is one of those gifts that keep on giving and will own its place of honour on my magickal bookshelf for the years to come. Previously I would purchase the Witches Almanac, a beautiful book that comes out twice a year for the few pages it would dedicate to my particular spiritual path. I have longed for a similar type of tome that would be dedicated to my area of study and the related paths that infuse the Indigenous American, African American and European American folk magic traditions that filtered through the southern states. Upon receiving my copy, I devoured it from cover to cover and am starting again. Glossary's, Calendars of Feast Days, Household Tips. Health Tips, sections on popular Saints, Spirit Guides as well as helpful omens and tables of moon signs. Voodoo Charms, herbal charms and chock full of lore, I can't even begin to scratch the surface of its dense 351 pages. To further extend your experience there are pictures and QR codes that you can snap with your android phone to take you websites that will further your reading, including whole books for free! This is a great source book for people wanting to connect with their roots via the folk magic of their Ancestors. A beautifully written and presented book (I love the aesthetic old time look the Author's employed) for the Solitary Root Worker, Novice or Initiated or just plain curious. I really appreciate the something for everyone approach and the bringing together of many cultures that Authors' Alvarado, Dean and Pustanio have accomplished. The best birthday present I bought for myself!" "Ordinarily I write very few reviews, but this almanac inspired me to. When I originally purchased this, I was expecting it to be similar to a Farmers' Almanac in size but upon receiving it today in the mail it was even more detailed and comprehensive than I could have imagined. The pages within are full of practical information and new material (not repeating any information found within the first two issues of "Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly" but instead expanding upon them), and despite the fact that this was published in 2012 one can still find much use for it for 2013. I truly do appreciate all of the information contained within this almanac, and I am certain that this will be useful for me for many years to come." "Hoodoo and Conjure's 2012 Hoodoo Almanac is the first of its kind! Bravo to Denise Alvarado, Carolina Dean, and Alyne Pustanio for creating the almanac that should have been created one hundred years ago! This is a treasure-trove of Hoodoo, Witchcraft, and Magickal information that every practitioner should keep on their "frequently referenced" bookshelf!! I just finished reading it cover-to-cover, and it was a great refresher for some information that I had forgotten, and there was a vast amount of mystical lore that I read for the first time! The "Who's Who in Hoodoo History" section was awesome, and very comprehensive. Reading this almanac was an act of magick in and of itself. I hope that The Hoodoo Almanac is an annual tradition that will last for years and years to come!" "Wonderful spellbinding information put together with enchanting illustration. Something for everyone, no matter what genre of magic you practice, you will find this book captivating and hard to put down. Especially interesting information on magical herbs and their uses... which ones to use and not to use. Many detailed topics. A must-have for every practitioner's collection." "I found nothing in this book that did not catch my attention and keep it. The information inside is a must have for any rootworker or conjurer. This book is full of fantastic lore and history. I have to say my tarot-scope was right on. With writings ranging from serving Marie Laveau to La Santisima Muerte along with significant dates for those who practice hoodoo, there are very few books on the shelves that will cover the range of topics available in this volume. Simply a great book by very talented authors." What are you waiting for?
