Holy Ground

HOLY GROUND By Denny Fanning Malibu, California, 2020. Silver halide black and white photograph printed on archival paper.   ABOUT THIS SERIES - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AT DUSK Denny Fanning crafts an ode to last light across the desolate stretches of southeastern California in this series. Whether its power lines astride a field of poppies or the ghostly outline of a sanctuary superimposed against the wildlands, Fanning uses the sun’s afterglow as a palette in order to paint a melancholy mood across the empty expanses.
