Graybeard's Embryo

Gray Beard's Embryo, 41 cm x 41 cm, 16" x 16", 2018 - 2024, urethane and acrylic binders, pigments in dispersal water, dry iridescent pigments on panel. Gray Beard's Embryo has a flat finish. I do not have an explanation for this painting. I remember looking at it on and off wondering what the title could be. I called it Gray Beard's Embryo well after it was done. I see a snow globe head on the left with the thought embryo on the right. "After a time Zeus developed the mother of all headaches. He howled so loudly it could be heard throughout the earth. The other gods came to see what the problem was. Hermes realized what needed to be done and directed Hephaestus to take a wedge and split open Zeus's skull. Out of the skull sprang Athena, full grown and in a full set of armour. Due to her manor of birth she has dominion over all things of the intellect."  The texture is a soft matte finish with at least one thick resin layer. You can see how a matte surface blurs the lower layers in the details. The top most layer has crisp details. My sister has a cat named Graybeard. Gray Beard's Embryo is ready to hang.
