Hildegard's Bertram Spice Blend

Struggling with discomfort that seems to settle into your joints and bones? Perhaps this traditional Hildegardian blend deserves a place in your remedy cabinet. Most imbalances don’t develop overnight, and finding our way back to greater well-being is rarely an overnight process either. Consistency, discipline, and good-quality preparations matter. Sometimes, however, the body responds sooner than we expect. St. Hildegard says: “A person afflicted by arthritis should crush bertram and add one-third as much ginger, along with a little pepper. This should be eaten on an empty stomach and followed with wine, and the person will feel better. For bertram possesses a dry warmth and is free from all improper moisture; therefore, it destroys the foaming humors of arthritis, which arises from their sediment. The warmth of ginger and pepper assists the bertram, and in this way completely quiets the arthritis.” Net weight: 1.76 oz. (50 g.)
