Hi, It's Me Again - Book

Review Quotes: "Hilariously perceptive of life's mundane tragedies. Asher articulates that voice in my head that is stressing over existential fears, social obligations and magicians, apparently. I feel seen and also ridiculed." (Jordan Klepper) Review Quotes: "Asher Perlman belongs to the great American Tradition of the Deadpan: not only the classic cartoonists like Thurber and George(s) Price and Booth, but Buster Keaton and (stay with me) They Might Be Giants. The world is a big, weird place and it takes a special talent to manage it for us. Relax: Asher's got this." (Michael McKean) Review Quotes: "Asher Perlman cartoons are hilarious, fresh, and brilliant. He works with familiar cartoon genres (doctors, courtrooms, cocktail parties, death, etc.) and invents many of his own. I am in awe." (Roz Chast) Biographical Note: Asher Perlman is an Emmy award-nominated, WGA award-winning, Peabody award-winning cartoonist, comedian, writer, and actor. He is a regular contributor to the New Yorker and a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He lives in Brooklyn, but his heart will always be in the Midwest with his family. ashermaxperlman.com @asherperlman Review Quotes: "The profane amount of whimsy is only matched by the obscene level of hilarity. PERLMAN IS MEDDLING IN GOD'S DOMAIN." (Patton Oswalt) Review Quotes: "In my fantasy version of myself, I see things that no one else can see. True things. I am brief and winning in the way I point them out and when I do this, I bring not only a smile, but can change the way another person looks at the world. Apparently, in my fantasy version of myself, I am Asher Perlman." (John Dickerson) Review Quotes: "I find myself wanting to live in the worlds Asher creates, until I realize they're not too far from the one I'm in (I own several genies). Asher Perlman is still my favorite cartoonist/modern day Sisyphus." (Bowen Yang) Review Quotes: "Asher Perlman makes your favorite comic's favorite comics." (Nikki Glaser) Publisher Marketing: A cartoon book that will change your life. Ideally, for the better. Hi, It's Me Again is the second collection from New Yorker cartoonist and The Late Show writer Asher Perlman. It comes just one year after his national bestselling debut, Well, This Is Me, and it raises important questions like, "Was this too quick to come out with another book?" and "No, seriously, will people buy this one?" Stephen Colbert calls Asher "very funny" and "keenly attuned to the inherent strangeness of existence." Ben Stiller says Asher's cartoons are "the kind of funny that makes you question what it is to be a person." And Mahatma Gandhi says, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." That one isn't as relevant here, but it's still nice to keep in mind. Anxiety, OCD, the human condition, death--these are just a few of the lighthearted themes explored in this book. A well-proportioned blend of single panel cartoons and longer narrative pieces, Hi, It's Me Again has it all, from a vampire stress-drinking blood, to a pinata pressuring her son into being beaten to death by children. And there are some less violent cartoons as well. One thing is certain: Hi, It's Me Again is the best compilation of Asher's cartoons since his last cartoon compilation, and it will certainly remain the best at least until his next.
