Henry Eilers Sweet Coneflower

Henry Eilers Sweet Coneflower (Rudbeckia subtomentosa 'Henry Eilers')Henry Eilers Sweet Coneflower adds tall, late-season color with a look you do not see in typical black-eyed Susans. The golden blooms open in clusters and keep going through late summer into early fall, giving borders a fresh lift when many perennials start to fade. Its upright habit is ideal for the back of beds, where the flowers can rise above neighboring plants without feeling heavy. Plant it once, give it sun and consistent moisture, and it becomes a reliable pollinator draw year after year. Distinctive FeaturesThis standout selection is famous for its finely quilled petals, each yellow ray rolled into a narrow tube that creates a starburst effect around a dark brown to purplish-brown cone. Blooms typically appear from late summer into early fall, often peaking in August and September, and the branching stems carry many flowers at once. The foliage and flowers can have a subtle sweet, anise-like fragrance that adds another layer of interest up close.
