Aria Raw Unsalted Hemp Seeds - Parrot Treat & Nutrient-Rich Supplement 12oz

About: Raw Unsalted Hemp Seeds Support your parrot’s health with raw, unsalted hemp seeds, a small but nutrient-dense seed valued in avian nutrition for its balance of healthy fats, plant-based protein, and essential micronutrients. Hemp seeds are naturally soft and easy to eat, making them well-suited for treat use, sprinkle-feeding, or mixing into fresh foods. From a scientific nutrition perspective, hemp seeds are notable for their favorable fatty acid profile, providing both omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) in a ratio often discussed in animal and avian nutrition research. Essential fatty acids are important for feather quality, skin health, immune support, and normal inflammatory balance in birds. Hemp seeds also supply complete plant protein, containing all essential amino acids in modest amounts. Why hemp seeds can benefit parrots: Essential fatty acids: Omega-3 and omega-6 fats support feather condition, skin integrity, and immune function. Plant-based protein: Contributes amino acids needed for tissue maintenance and feather growth. Minerals & vitamins: Naturally contains magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and vitamin E, supporting metabolic and cellular health. Highly palatable: Small size and soft texture make hemp seeds useful as low-effort rewards or dietary toppers. Important bird-care note: Although hemp seeds are nutritious, they are still fat-containing seeds. Avian veterinary nutrition research consistently emphasizes moderation, as overfeeding seeds—even healthy ones—can contribute to dietary imbalance, obesity, and fatty liver disease. Hemp seeds should supplement, not replace, a balanced parrot diet. Ingredients 100% Raw, Unsalted Hemp Seeds No salt, no roasting, no additives or preservatives. Feeding Instructions Use as a treat, food topper, or supplemental seed, not a complete diet. How to offer: Sprinkle a small amount over pellets, chop, or vegetables to encourage interest in fresh foods. Offer in a treat dish or mix sparingly into foraging blends. Can be especially useful for senior birds or birds with weaker beaks due to their soft texture. Suggested treat amounts: (Adjust based on species, size, activity level, and overall diet.) Small parrots (budgies, lovebirds, parrotlets): ¼–½ teaspoon, 2–3 times per week Medium parrots (cockatiels, conures, quakers): ½–1 teaspoon, 2–3 times per week Large parrots (amazons, African greys, cockatoos, macaws): 1–2 teaspoons, 2–3 times per week Reduce frequency if other high-fat seeds or nuts are offered. Best practices: Keep seeds and treats to a small percentage of total daily intake. Maintain a foundation diet of quality formulated pellets and fresh vegetables, consistent with avian nutrition research. Provide fresh water daily and store hemp seeds in a cool, dry, airtight container to maintain freshness.
