Held: A 50-Day Devotional for Parents

From Jacqueline Whitney: writer, poet, and TikTok creator with 569K followers and 61.6M likes on TikTok, known for her poetry and videos on mental health, grief, healing, and hope. Author of If You're Grieving, All That You Deserve, Beyond Worthy, Stay Until Tomorrow, and Letters to Lost Loved Ones. Held is her first devotional, rather than a poetry collection, written out of the specific experience of being a parent who loves deeply and still wonders if it's enough. This is a 50-day devotional written for the parent in the middle of it. It's not for the parent who has figured it out, but the ordinary, everyday parent who is doing their very best and still carrying a quiet worry that their best might not be enough. For the parent who feels stretched thin. For the parent who wants to do it well. For the parent who loves their children more than words but still wonders if they're getting it right. Held is built on a single, sustained argument: that God is not a resource you access when you're running out, but a presence actively holding you in every single moment of your parenting — in the decisions you agonize over, in the gaps where you feel insufficient, in the love you pour out and the worry that follows it everywhere. The devotional moves through 50 days of gentle reflections, prayers, and encouragement, each one addressing the specific emotional interior of parenthood: the weight of responsibility, the fear of failing, the love that is so large it becomes its own form of anxiety, and the invitation to release all of it into the hands of a God who was there before you started and will be there long after. Whitney's voice is warm, direct, never preachy. Held carries the same quality that has made her poetry and grief writing resonate with hundreds of thousands of readers: she writes as someone who has been in the feeling she's describing, not from above it. Her faith is not triumphant but present. Her prayers are not declarations but conversations. Her assurance that you are always enough, that you were never meant to carry this alone, lands not as comfort but as truth. Perfect for: Parents of children at any stage who practice Christian faith and want a daily devotional that meets them in the specific exhaustion, love, and uncertainty of parenting Parents who are not in crisis but feel the constant low-level weight of doing it well, and need regular reminder that God is in that weight with them  Readers who already know and love Whitney's previous work: If You're Grieving, All That You Deserve, Beyond Worth, and who have been waiting for a title that speaks specifically to the parenting dimension of their lives  Gift buyers for Mother's Day, Father's Day, baby showers, or any occasion honoring a parent, particularly a new parent navigating the profound disorientation of loving something so much it scares you  Anyone drawn to the gentle, non-denominational end of the Christian devotional. More personal letter than sermon.
