Headwall Espresso Blend

Headwall Espresso Blend from Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters is the kind of espresso that makes you understand why some roasters spend years perfecting a single blend. Named after a powder run on Schweitzer Mountain, this medium roast combines African and Latin American coffees—each roasted separately to preserve its character before blending—to create an espresso that's as balanced as it is memorable. This is Evans Brothers' bar standard, the blend they pull shot after shot in their own café, and it shows. Sweet fruit notes dance with cocoa richness and soft nuttiness, finishing clean and bright. It's an espresso that tastes complete on its own but truly shines when paired with milk, bringing out caramel-like sweetness that makes every cappuccino feel like a small luxury. Tasting NotesThe first sip reveals gentle fruit sweetness—think berry undertones without sharp acidity—followed by smooth cocoa and a whisper of hazelnut. The body is medium and silky, substantial enough to stand up to milk but not so heavy it overwhelms. The finish is remarkably clean with a brightness that keeps your palate engaged without any harshness. This is espresso that tastes dialed-in from the first pull. Brew MethodsHeadwall is built for espresso, particularly milk-based drinks. Pull it as a straight shot and you'll get a balanced, approachable espresso with excellent clarity. But add steamed milk—whether you're making a latte, cappuccino, or cortado—and watch the caramel sweetness bloom. The medium roast profile also makes it forgiving across different espresso machines and grinder settings, so you'll get consistent results whether you're pulling shots on a heat exchanger or dual boiler machine. While optimized for espresso, this blend also works beautifully as drip coffee or in a moka pot if you prefer a fuller-bodied morning cup with espresso character.
