HAZELNUT (PREORDER)

~40 lbs Hazelnut aka "Cobnut", "Filberts", "Zhen-Zi", "Zhen-Guo", "榛子", "榛果" Hazelnut has a rounded shape with a smooth brown shell, except for the base where it is a lighter, tan color, and slightly rough texture. Hazelnuts are nutty, toasted, with slight notes of musty and earthy.  You can eat hazelnuts raw, roasted, or pureed. They are very popular as ingredients in desserts. Handling Tip Selection Hazelnut has smooth bright-colored skin with no cracks or mold. Look for shells that are full and plump. Storage Hazelnut should be stored at 50°F (10°C) with low relative humidity. The typical shelf life is twenty-four months. Hazelnut is not sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening, and produces a very low level of ethylene. Hazelnut is not sensitive to chilling injury and is commonly stored at temperatures at or below freezing for long-term storage.
