Hayagriva Sungkhor-Amulet

Hayagriva. Wrathful deity of the Padma (Lotus) Family, the manifestation of the wrathful activity of Buddha Amitabha, from the Terma (Treasure) tradition of Kyergangpa, 12th century. Hayagriva is considered the embodiment of the speech aspect of all Buddhas.  It cuts through illusion and/or false attachments to evoke or reveal the nature of reality which is the enlightened mind. Sungkhors (lit. "protection-chakra") are protective charms/amulets that contain miniature mandalas of specific deities folded and covered with intricate handwoven colored string designs stipulated by vajrayana texts of the specific deities.
