Haworthia minor

Description Haworthia Minor Care Guide FAQ/Common Issues   Haworthia minor is a drought-tolerant succulent from the Asphodelaceae family, native to South Africa's rocky outcrops and arid regions. It has become popular among indoor gardeners and collectors worldwide for its low-maintenance nature and ability to grow in various light conditions.   It forms miniature rosettes of thick, triangular leaves with translucent "windows" at their tips. The plant stays compact at just 2–3 inches tall and wide, with dark green to bronze-colored foliage that develops reddish tints in brighter light. Rosettes cluster naturally over time, creating multiple groupings from a single plant.   Haworthia Minor produces white tubular flowers on thin stalks during spring and summer, though blooms appear sporadically. It is completely pet-friendly for households with cats and dogs, making it safe to place anywhere in your home.   Move it outside for summer enjoyment and keep it outdoors through autumn in milder climates. It does well as a desk plant under LED lighting and handles drafty indoor spots with ease. You can leave it up to ten days without water. This succulent works well in terrariums and small containers and survives neglect far better than most houseplants.   Haworthia minor grows well in medium to bright indirect light and adapts well to low-light conditions, including office LED setups.   Water it every 2–3 weeks during the growing season, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings and reducing frequency in winter.   Haworthia Minor does best in well-draining cactus or succulent soil mixed with perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.   It prefers temperatures between 65–80°F and is not frost tolerant, requiring protection below 32°F.   Haworthia Minor is a slow-growing rosette succulent that rarely needs fertilizer, requiring minimal feeding during the growing season.   It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11 and cannot tolerate frost. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, southern California, southern Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, southern Louisiana, coastal Georgia, and coastal South Carolina. It also succeeds in protected microclimates along the coasts of Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, and southern Nevada where temperatures rarely drop below freezing. Q: Is Haworthia minor safe for pets and children? A: It is completely non-toxic and safe around cats, dogs, and children. Q: Why does it need very little water? A: Haworthia minor has succulent leaves that store water, so it grows well on infrequent watering and rots easily if the soil stays wet for extended periods. Q: How much light does Haworthia Minor need indoors? A: It adapts to medium, bright indirect, and even low light; office desks with LED lights work well. Q: How large does it grow? A: Haworthia Minor stays small at 2–3 inches tall and wide, clustering into multiple rosettes over years. Q: Can Haworthia Minor survive outdoor trips or vacations? A: It can go unwatered for up to ten days without harm. Q: What happens if I place it in a very sunny window? A: Haworthia Minor's leaves may turn brown or develop pale patches from intense direct sun; bright indirect light is the better choice.
