Haworthia cassytha

Description Haworthia Cassytha Care Guide FAQ/Common Issues   Haworthia cassytha is a compact succulent from the Asphodelaceae family, native to the rocky outcrops of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. It is drought-tolerant and adapts well to office and home environments.   The plant produces thick, triangular leaves arranged in tight rosettes that rarely exceed 4 inches across. White tubercles create raised bumps across the dark green leaf surfaces, giving it a zebra-like appearance. The leaves curve slightly inward, forming a geometric pattern.   Small white tubular flowers appear on slender stems during spring and early summer, though flowering indoors is uncommon. Haworthia Cassytha releases oxygen at night. The plant tolerates dry heated air well, adapting easily to homes with forced air heating systems.   Haworthia Cassytha excels as a desk plant, growing well under LED lighting where many plants struggle. It can move outdoors during summer months with protection from rain. The compact size makes it suitable for terrariums and small spaces, and you can leave it up to ten days without water.   Haworthia cassytha grows well in medium to bright indirect light but scorches in south-facing windows.   Water it deeply every 2-3 weeks during growing season, reducing to monthly watering in winter.   Haworthia Cassytha does best in well-draining cactus mix with added perlite or pumice.   It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and is not frost tolerant.   Haworthia Cassytha is a slow-growing succulent requiring diluted succulent fertilizer only 2-3 times yearly.   It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and cannot tolerate frost below 32°F. It grows outdoors in Florida, southern Texas, southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Louisiana, southern Georgia, South Carolina's coastal regions, southern Alabama, and southern Mississippi. Q: Is Haworthia cassytha safe for pets and children? A: It is completely pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats, dogs, and children. Q: How big does it get? A: Haworthia cassytha stays compact, typically reaching 3-4 inches wide and tall at maturity. Q: What light conditions does Haworthia Cassytha need indoors? A: Place it in a bright, east or west-facing window. It burns in direct south sun but grows well under office LEDs. Q: Can it survive if I travel frequently? A: Haworthia Cassytha easily survives 10-day trips alone thanks to its drought-tolerant nature. Q: How do I propagate Haworthia Cassytha? A: Carefully remove offset pups that develop around the mother plant's base and let them dry for a few days before potting. Q: What does overwatering look like? A: The leaves become soft and translucent, and the base may rot if soil stays wet for more than a few days.
