Octopus Arabesque Sauce Dish – Hasami Ware

Bring a piece of Japanese heritage to your table with this versatile small square dish. Crafted in the historic pottery center of Hasami, Japan, this dish features the iconic Octopus Arabesque pattern—a design that is as playful as it is traditional. Despite its premium look and artisanal feel, it is designed for everyday use and offers an affordable way to elevate your dining experience. Why "Octopus Arabesque"? The striking pattern on the interior is known in Japan as Tako Karakusa (Octopus Arabesque). While the name sounds whimsical, it describes the swirling vines and dots that resemble octopus tentacles and suckers. Historically, this pattern was a simplified, artistic take on traditional vine motifs. Today, it is a beloved symbol of longevity and prosperity, making it a meaningful addition to your home or a thoughtful gift.
