Harrop's CDC Biot Emerger BWO - Solitude

Harrop’s CDC Biot Emerger BWO – Solitude When trout key on Blue Winged Olives just before they break the surface, few patterns are as effective as Harrop’s CDC Biot Emerger BWO. Designed by René Harrop, this fly perfectly imitates BWOs in their most vulnerable stage—emerging in the film—when selective trout often ignore fully emerged duns. The slim biot abdomen creates a realistic, segmented profile, while the CDC wing provides subtle flotation and a lifelike footprint that sits low and natural. This combination lets the fly ride in the surface film, not on top of it, making it deadly during cold-weather and overcast BWO hatches when trout feed with precision. Fish it solo to match the moment, or trail it behind a small dry for a highly effective dry-dropper or double-dry setup. Why it works Biot abdomen for a slim, natural BWO silhouette CDC wing for soft flotation and realistic movement Emerger profile trout key on during heavy BWO hatches Sits low in the film for selective, pressured fish Designed by René Harrop for technical trout water When & where to fish it Spring and fall BWO hatches Cloudy, cold, and drizzly days Tailwaters, spring creeks, and slow glides Ideal during mid-hatch when duns get refused When trout are feeding just under the surface and won’t fully commit to dries, Harrop’s CDC Biot Emerger BWO – Solitude is the pattern that bridges the gap—and gets eats when others don’t.
