Handwoven Basket with Lid

A beautiful example of Palestinian artistry and heritage, these baskets have historically served as necessary yet decorative tools of daily life as they were commonly used to hold food such as fruits, vegetables and bread. Having an attached lid makes them perfect for serving warm bread on your dinner table while also being an interesting conversation piece. Approximately 10.5 inches in diameter.  New artisan for ShopPalestine is Salma Bozeye, Founder and Director of Beit Al Turath, in Salfit area. For more than 15 years, Salma has been buying the straw (olive and wheat) from local women, dyeing and drying it, and making these beautiful baskets. She also offers 3 – 4 trainings each year on basket making Palestinian style helping to provide an income source for local women.
