This kit adds bolt-on handrails to an existing step stool, giving workers something to hold on to while climbing up or down. There is no need to buy a new step stool to get handrail support — this retrofit accessory connects directly to a 2-step poly step stool that is already in use. The SPN-2-YL-HR-RF features a safety yellow powder coated finish that matches the base step stool. The kit ships with an approximate weight of 47 lbs and is covered by a 90-day limited warranty. The base 2-step step stool has an overall width of 25 inches, an overall length of 33 inches, and an overall height of 57 1/4 inches when the handrails are installed. The first step height is 10 1/2 inches and the second step height is 20 1/2 inches. This retrofit handrail kit is designed for facilities that want to improve step stool safety without replacing the whole unit. Features and Benefits The handrails in this kit are made from steel for strong, long-lasting support. They bolt directly onto compatible 2-step nestable poly step stool models, and all mounting hardware is included. The safety yellow finish keeps the unit highly visible in busy work areas, helping workers and passersby notice the step stool more easily. Once installed, the handrails give workers a place to grip while stepping up, stepping down, or standing on the stool. This reduces the chance of losing balance, especially when workers are focused on a task and reaching for items. The handrail height also allows the step stool to be pushed or pulled into position, which cuts down on bending and twisting when moving the stool between locations. The base 2-step nestable poly step stool supports a 500 lb. uniform capacity. The first step measures 20-3/16 inches by 12-15/16 inches, and the second step measures 18-7/16 inches by 12-15/16 inches. Anti-slip tape on the step surfaces helps provide secure footing. Because this is a retrofit accessory, facilities can upgrade their existing step stools rather than ordering new pre-assembled units with handrails. Applications The retrofit handrail kit is a strong fit for any workplace where workers use 2-step nestable poly step stools and need handrail support for safer access. Common environments include: Warehouses and distribution centers Stockrooms and retail backrooms Maintenance and repair areas Production and assembly floors Commercial kitchens and food service areas Hotels and hospitality facilities Municipal and government buildings Shipping and packaging areas Adding handrails to a step stool gives workers a grip point that helps with balance and control. This is especially important in fast-paced settings where workers step on and off stools many times during a shift. Nestable poly step stools provide lightweight, high-visibility access across many types of commercial and industrial workspaces. The retrofit design lets a facility keep its current step stools in service while still making a meaningful improvement to worker safety and comfort. Selection Assistance Barron Equipment and Overhead Door offers guidance to help customers choose the right step stool accessory for their setup. This retrofit handrail kit is designed only for 2-step nestable poly step stool models in the SPN series. It is not compatible with 1-step or 3-step models, which each have their own version of the handrail kit (SPN-1-YL-HR-RF and SPN-3-YL-HR-RF). Facilities that also want a back rail can look at the retrofit back rail kit (SPN-2-YL-BR-RF). For teams that need casters, the retrofit caster portability kit (SPN-2-PO-RF) is available. If you want handrails, a back rail, and casters all at once, the All Options Accessory Kit (SPN-2-YL-AOK) bundles everything into one package for convenience and value. Customers can reach out through the website to compare options, confirm compatibility, or get help choosing the right accessory for their step stools.
