Handmade Ceramic Candlesticks - Iron Oxide

Stunning, elegant candlesticks made of dark clay and glazed with iron oxide. Dimensions: 6.25 to 7.50" high, not two alike. Handmade in Massachusetts by Wendy Borger.  Wendy Borger studied fine art and photography at the Maryland Institute College of Art and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  Her love of “making” and fine crafts led her to classes at a local ceramics studio where she discovered a deep connection to the process of making pottery. Of her work, Wendy says:  My ceramics are inspired by Nature and are intended to be both beautiful and functional.  Most of my work is wheel thrown with elements of hand building and carving to enhance the form.  I prefer glazes that reflect the natural tones of the earth, flowers and water.  Some imperfections in form and finish remain intentionally to reflect the hand of the maker.
