Hand-Chiseled Stone Rectangular Pot (Trade)

Raw, elemental, and immovable—this vintage hand-carved granite basin is a rare artifact sourced from the rugged rural provinces of Nepal. Originally utilized as a monumental grain mortar or a communal village basin throughout the early to mid-20th century, this Himalayan piece has been reclaimed as a sculptural vessel and architectural anchor for the modern home. Carved from a single, monolithic block of indigenous "Salt and Pepper" granite, the piece is prized for its extreme durability and high quartz content. The exterior remains in its rugged, "as-found" state, showcasing the original heavy chisel marks of the artisan, while the interior has been worn smooth by decades of daily utilitarian use. Whether utilized as a structural succulent planter, a minimalist bird bath, or a meditative indoor focal point, this basin introduces a profound sense of Himalayan permanence and "Wabi-Sabi" soul to any space. This basin is a definitive choice for Desert Modern, Japandi, and Brutalist aesthetics. Because of its immense weight and stone composition, it transitions effortlessly between indoor gallery settings and rugged outdoor landscapes. It pairs beautifully with architectural foliage like Sansevieria or structural cacti, but is equally powerful left empty as a "found object" sculpture. Note: Being hand-carved from monolithic stone, the base may not be perfectly level; shims may be required for specific placement. *Era: Early to Mid-20th Century *Dimension: 23“(L) x 7.5“(D) x 8“(H) 100LB *Material: Solid Hand-Carved Granite *Finish: Salt & Pepper (Light Gray with Natural Mineral Flecks) *Origin: Nepal (Himalayan Region) *Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
