Hana ML

Hana ML Micro Line Stylus Building upon the foundation of the critically acclaimed HANA sound, the ML aspires toward affordable perfection and represent the further evolution of the “Brilliant and Gorgeous” quality that has earned HANA its worldwide reputation.  M Series Nude Microline stylus – Higher Specification Part  Befitting its name, the M Series uses a Nude Microline stylus, mimicking the cutting stylus and fitting more precisely into the vinyl groove. This enhances tracking to capture the most delicate musical details with better frequency reproduction, stereo imaging, and resolution.  High Purity copper wire – Higher Specification Part  The coil of the ML's new low-impedance generator—the same generator used in the Hana Umami Blue—is wound with a very high-purity copper wire. Implementing the new generator optimizes performance and provides superior matching with a broader range of phono preamps. Delrin© cartridge body – Advanced Materials  The M Series cartridge body is injection molded from Delrin©, a high-tech polymer with improved mechanical characteristics for better resonance damping, to reveal more low level information and enhance dynamic range.  Cryogenic Processing - Unique Technical Treatment  Cryogenic processing is Cold Annealing at near absolute zero temperature that restructures metals at the molecular level, especially important in the Alnico based magnetic electro-motive circuit (cartridge signal generator). The M Series parts treated include the front yoke as well as center and rear components. The result is a more precise and controlled magnetic flux field for greater linearity and musical sound quality.  Brass Cap with Threaded fittings - Superior Mechanical Interface  The Delrin© cartridge body features an integral machined brass cap providing constrained mode layer damping and its heavier 9.5 gram weight provides expanded compatibility with a wider range of tonearms and turntables.  Built into the M Series Delrin© cartridge body are metal threaded fittings for headshell mounting hardware, offering easier attachment and a superior mechanical interface for better bass and dynamics.       REVIEW & AWARDS Hana ML Phono Cartridge | REVIEW - Read More "In any case, believe the hype about Hana. Yes, they make extraordinary cartridges that are very affordable, and I bet some Hana dealers are telling Excel that they need to raise their prices. Before that happens, you should listen to the $1200 Hana ML and decide whether you really need to spend more money than this. I’m not sure I do—I could easily live with the Hana ML for a long time." - Marc Phillips   Hana MH and ML moving coil cartridges - Read More "Yes, all of these cartridges got their stellar reputations for being the best you could get in that field for a reason, but the Hanas give you more than a glimpse of what the true masters have to offer, without the financial outlay. And yet, at no time does this sound like scraps from the very top table. The Hana ML in particular and the MH trailing close behind are every inch high-end super cartridges, only without the high prices. " - Alan Sircom HANA ML and MH Moving Coil Cartridges - Read More "HANA MH and ML got through all my tests with flying colours and left very little to be desired. More importantly, their performance was such that they made me look at my vinyl collection with new eyes, almost as if I just got my first records. They revealed details, depth and soundstage precision with flair and soul that deserve to be heard. The craftsmanship and performance are there as are the looks… And whoever designed that stylus guard is a genius. " - Vedran Simunovic   Hana ML Cartridge Review - Read More "As the twenty-first century vinyl revival continues apace, there's an increasing number of affordable, well-honed low output moving coils around these days – and among these, the Hana ML is a shining star. It's so good that were it to come in an exotic box, it could be offered for at least twice its price and would be graciously received. Indeed, most buyers would still be delighted with it. An excellent product at the price then, hear this if you possibly can. " - Jay Garrett   Hana ML Low Output Cartridge - Read More "Hana has a growing reputation for quality of design. No matter what price point it decides to tackle, it tends to provide a value for money product because it tends to give you more than the competition at that particular point. For the ML that meant a sense of clarity and insight that allowed detail to be picked out from the subtle recesses of the mix. A trick often reserved for rarified high-end designs. That’s the quality of the Hana ML.  "      Hana ML - Read More "In an attempt to get a better handle on this cartridge I dusted off an SME Model 10 and fitted the ML into its detachable headshell, set downforce, alignment and bias and gave it a spin with Binker and Moses stonking Alive in the East. This starts with a drum solo which this cartridge delivered in impressively tactile style, showing all the reverb around the different parts of the kit whilst pinning down the rhythm so that the Moses’ playing was totally engaging. This was enough to convince me that this Hana is very much at home in a medium mass arm like the SME where I have heard more refined cartridges but not in this price league. That’s where Hana has always been strong, value for money, and that continues to be the case with this model. The fact that it works so well in turntables as diverse as those tried is testament to its adaptability, the fact that in both cases it made the music so compelling is reason enough to put it high on your must hear list for a serious cartridge upgrade. " - Jason Kennedy   Review of the Hana ML Low Output Moving Coil Cartridge - Read More "... the ML will more than carry its weight in a system of any price and is very highly recommended! " -    Hana ML - Read More "That’s not to say the ML can’t have fun in its own right. The retro tinged rock of Greta van Fleet’s Anthem Of A Peaceful Army is delivered with an appealing feeling of drive and snap that works well with the Hana’s superb tonality and richness. The ML is able to strike the happy balance between being energetic and lively while avoiding listening fatigue even with poorer pressings. This isn’t the sort of cartridge that hits you out of the box with a shock and awe style of presentation, but its considerable charms take very little time to grow on you and it’s a worthy contender for any shortlist at the price.
