HA8020M = Fretz Traditional Chasing Hammer - Medium Weight HMR-20-M

Fretz Traditional Chasing Hammer - Medium Model Bill Fretz has just added more chasing hammers to his growing line of excellent jewelers' hammers. This is traditionally styled chasing hammer is a "medium" model. It is similar in style to the German and French made hammers that have been sold in the US countless years. This medium model features a small head than his "heavy" model. Both these traditional style chasing hammers have similar shaped heads, the only difference being the length and weight. Fretz traditional chasing hammers have a highly polished cast stainless steel head with a slightly domed 1-1/4" (31mm) diameter hammer face with a ball peen end. Fretz traditional chasing hammers feature a standard "pistol grip" handle. And as with all Fretz hammers, the handles are made of Padauk, a tough type of Rosewood. The head of the Fretz Chasing Hammer has been hardened to 50Rc; important since chasing requires blows of hammer against chasing tool. Other hammers are design only for hammer against metal. Unfortunately the polished face of the Fretz Chasing Hammer may become marred during normal use. This will in no way affect its performance while chasing. Should you wish to keep the head in excellent shape for other purposes, please avoid using it in conjunction with chasing tools. Because all Fretz hammers are hand finished, variations in head diameter size can occur, as no two hammers are exactly alike. Please wear appropriate eye protection when using any hammer. Master Silversmith Bill Fretz has designed hammers that are perfect for each step of the forming process; planishing, raising, embossing, riveting, forging. Each hammer has a similar feel making it easy to switch from one to another. Be careful though, once you have a Fretz hammer in your hand, you won€â€žÂ¢t want to put it down.,
