Guerlain: Visionary Since 1828

For nearly two hundred years, Guerlain has enchanted the world with a daring blend of tradition and innovation. A true pioneer in beauty, the Maison introduced the first lipstick in a tube, redefined the art of eyeliner with kohl, created the first serum, and gave glow a name with its iconic Terracotta bronzing powder. Its perfumes—Shalimar, Jicky, and La Petite Robe Noire—didn’t just follow trends; they created them. This book features a rich illustrated journey, with the evocative sketches and illustrations that defined iconic advertisements in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, along with contemporary collaborations with current artists and creators. Decade after decade, Guerlain has made its mark with original creations, always a step ahead of its time. French fashion journalist and author Antigone Schilling uncovers the spirit of invention and elegance that defines Guerlain. From imperial courts to contemporary catwalks, this is the story of a house that has never stopped reinventing beauty. With a foreword by Laurence Benaïm, this book is a precious testament to Guerlain’s visionary spirit, a Maison with eyes forever set on tomorrow.
