9602 Floor Lamp

The 9602 Floor Lamp, affectionately known as the "Chinese Hat," is one of Paavo Tynell's most celebrated lighting designs and a defining example of Scandinavian elegance. Originally created in 1938 for the Hotel Aulanko in Finland, the lamp combines a sculptural silhouette with warm ambient illumination, making it equally suited for living rooms, reading corners, bedrooms, and hospitality settings. Its distinctive brass base, graceful proportions, and softly flared shade create an inviting presence that feels both timeless and unmistakably modern. Designed by Paavo Tynell, often referred to as the pioneer of Finnish lighting design, the 9602 Floor Lamp reflects his ability to transform functional objects into works of art. The signature brass detailing, airy shade, and hand-wrapped rattan stem demonstrate the craftsmanship and refined material palette that made Tynell's work internationally admired. GUBI faithfully reintroduces this iconic design using premium materials and contemporary manufacturing techniques while preserving the character of the original 1938 piece. Standing over five feet tall, the 9602 Floor Lamp provides comfortable ambient lighting without overwhelming a space. The large shade directs a soft downward glow while gently diffusing light throughout the room, making it ideal beside lounge seating or reading chairs. Suitable for both residential and commercial interiors, the lamp accommodates two E26 bulbs (not included) and is designed for long-lasting everyday use.
